The Wines of Murray Street

The Barossa Valley boasts the perfect environment for grape growing. Rich soils and a warm climate make it one of the most popular wine growing regions in the world.

The first vines here were planted in the 1840s, and it has been an important wine growing region ever since! Year on year the region produces amazing wines and household name brands.

Today, it is home to some of the oldest vineyards in the world. Many wineries are passed down generations, and some families have farmed here for over 100 years. Additionally, many new vines have arrived, exploring new-age wine making. The region has a delightful mix of both new and old – school wineries for you to explore.

Murray Street Vineyards comes under the latter category. Founded in 2001, it aims to honour Barossa Valley’s rich wine making traditions. Meanwhile, it elevates the high standard of wine making in Australia for future generations.

The vineyards are all managed and maintained in a sustainable way, as the team are focused on creating a healthy legacy for future winemakers. In order to create their distinct flavours, they use new world technologies alongside traditional techniques. This mixing of techniques produces a distinct flavour to their speciality, estate grown Shiraz and Shiraz blends.

The Vineyards

• Greenock Estate

  Murray Street Vineyards is home to two separate vineyards, each of which boast their own unique scenery and diverse flavours. The Greenock Estate Vineyard is home to Grenache and Semillon plantings that date back around 50 years. These vines produce full-bodied wines like Shiraz, Mataro, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Semillon.

• Gomersal Estate

  The Gomersal Estate sits on top of a hill surrounded by an exceptional array of flora and fauna. Rocky hillsides peter down into the valley below, making the perfect planting ground for Shiraz, Viognier, and Marsanne. Wines produced at this vineyard boast a rich, signature flavour.
