What time of year is best for wine tours?

Australia is one of the world’s top wine producers, with our fertile land and pleasant climate making the perfect viticulture combo! From the world famous Barossa to the Hunter’s sustainable vintages, through to the lush beauty of Margaret River and the Yarra Valley, Australia has no shortage of great places to sip, sample and procure a few bottles of fine Shiraz, Cab Sauv or something else…

Although Australia’s wine regions are dotted across the country, their climates are pretty similar, making the months of March or November the best time of year for a legendary wine tour!

These are the months of the year when Australia’s wine regions aren’t too hot or too frosty, and there is always a good buzz of excitement as this a great time of year to enjoy the region’s beauty as well as the divine fruits of their labour.

So, if you’re looking to enjoy a wine tour to the fullest, be sure to head in the months outside of summer and winter! These wonder wine regions await your patronage:

The Barossa Valley

The Barossa – alongside the likes of Bordeaux, the Napa Valley and Tuscany – is one of the world’s most famous wine regions, and proudly lays claim to cultivation with the world’s oldest vines!

Not only this, the region is no stranger to well sought-after labels, with the likes of Chateau Tanunda and Peter Lehmann just the top of a very delectable barrel. A wine tour is always a joy, complete with some of the most lavish estates in any of the world’s wine regions, and they’re always complete with fine food pairings.

The Hunter Valley

Next up, the fabulous Hunter, renowned for its world class wines and sustainable practices. In fact, one of the world’s most decorated labels, McGuigan Wines, is located in the Hunter, alongside some other classics like Peterson House and Tulloch Wines, both of which provide fab cellar door experiences…

The Yarra Valley

You get the picture: Australian valleys double as excellent wine regions, and the Yarra Valley is certainly another one of those. Not only is the Yarra superbly beautiful, it is also home to legendary wineries like Dominique Portet Wineries and Pimpernel Vineyards, both fantastic wineries with stellar drops.

So, plan ahead and pack your bags for the shoulder months – you’re in for a memorable (depending on your sample count) Aussie wine tour experience!
