Wine tastings are great for a celebration, or to try some very delicious wines.

Wine tastings are a lot of fun and it’s a great way to taste amazing vintage wines with friends and family. There’s often an unspoken guideline to know about when you’re doing a wine tasting. But there are a few things we would suggest not to do, or at least in moderation!

Drinking all your tasters

If you’ve got a long day ahead of you of wine tastings, it’s important to use the spit bucket. This gives you the chance to still be able to taste the wines, but not get sloshed from tasting many wines.

Don’t think that spitting out the wine means you miss out on the experience! You’ll still taste the wine, and the best part is you’ll be able to remember the very last tasting.

Drinking very fast

Some people will come into the wine tasting and start drinking without pacing themselves. It’s important to take your time, drink water in between each winery, and have some food.

Some wine tastings will come with food platters, but you should still try to have lunch when you can.

Now you know some guidelines on what to avoid at a wine tasting, but you might be wondering how you can do one. You can either drive to the wine region and go around to a few different wineries, or you can book a tour.

When you book a tour, you’ll go to a few different wineries for wine tastings, have some lunch, and overall have a good time. You’ll find it’s easier when you’ve booked a tour as you won’t need to worry about getting to each winery. You just need to enjoy your day and the wines!

Make sure to book

It’s important to book in for a wine tasting as there are a lot of wineries that require bookings. This will ensure you have a table and do not miss out.

In saying that though, if you don’t have a booking, you can still try and visit a winery because they may just have a table available!

What tour should I book?

If you’re looking to head out to the famous Barossa Valley, check out this one day wine tour. Throughout the day you’ll drop into five different wineries and do wine tastings.

It’s easy to have fun and enjoy the wines you’re trying on the tour! It should be an eventful day and remember to keep up with the water, have some food, a remember to use the spit bucket.
