The soils of the Barossa
The Barossa is one of the oldest wine producing parts of Australia, and one of the most well established. The vines date back to the 1840s, so Barossa Shiraz have been developed and harvested for years and years.
The Barossa Valley is blessed with warmer Mediterranean climates that are perfect for grapes to ripen faster, meaning they can reach full maturity earlier – the perfect conditions for a shiraz variety.
Eden Valley
This cooler, higher elevation give Eden Valley Shiraz varieties a slightly spicier taste, but it’s slightly more elegant.
The Eden Valley shiraz is purple to inky black in appearance, with dark berries and cherry aromas.
Barossa shiraz textures are usually quite velvety. Typically, Barossa Valley wines tend to be richer and riper, while Eden Valley shiraz varieties are more aromatic.
