The Barossa Valley is Australia’s most famous wine region.
Situated about an hour’s drive from Adelaide’s city centre, the Barossa Valley is renowned for its bold red Shiraz. However, the Barossa doesn’t just specialise in shiraz, it also boasts some incredible whites like semillon and chardonnay.
Within the Barossa, numerous wineries offer wine pairings with a range of different foods! It’s a fantastic way to experience how the wine beautifully complements cheese, chocolate, and other dishes.
Jacob’s Creek
Jacob’s Creek has a rich history of winemaking, dating back to 1847 when the first vineyard on the banks of Jacob’s Creek was planted. At the winery, you can enjoy the Double Barrel Signature Experience with a delicious lunch at their partner restaurant, Harvest Kitchen. You’ll indulge in a Barossan menu specially paired with two Jacob’s Creek wines. The experience lasts about three hours, with a minimum of two guests per booking and a maximum of eight.
Rolf Binder
Producing highly acclaimed wines, Rolf Binder only uses estate-grown fruit from their own vineyards. Rolf Binder also offers some excellent food and wine pairing options. To start, the winery offers a pizza and wine pairing, where you taste four handmade pizzettas matched perfectly with four premium Rolf Binder wines. Throughout the different seasons, Rolf Binder provides a lunch experience paired with a selection of premium wines.
The Barossa Valley Cheese Co
The Barossa Valley Cheese Co is known for its artisan cheeses made on-site. Visit the store and see how these cheeses are made through the viewing window and live-stream TV! A unique food and wine pairing experience includes picking up a cheese pack from the Cheesecellar and taking a self-guided tour of the Barossa to pair your cheese with the wines. The pack is suitable for up to two people and includes a map. You can purchase the cheese pack online prior to your arrival.
Fernfield Wines
Fernfield Wines offers an intimate cellar door experience with excellent wines. You can choose between two chocolate and wine pairing experiences at Fernfield Wines! Opt for four tastings of chocolate and wine designed to complement each other, or combine their chocolate recipes with different flavours to create your pairing, which you can then take home as a block of your chocolate! The chocolate is even made on-site!
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company
One spot worth visiting on your trip to the Barossa is the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company! Indulge in everyone’s favourite experience, the wine and chocolate pairing. Here, you will taste five different couverture chocolates made by the Chocolate Company, perfectly paired with five Vineyard Road wines.
The Barossa Valley is a stunning region to visit while in Adelaide, offering a diverse range of wines and food experiences.
