Your spring day trip from Adelaide
Only an hour away from Adelaide, the beautiful Barossa Valley sits in the rolling hills of the South Australian countryside. With rugged-looking cellar doors, fields neatly lined up to the horizon line, and plenty of photo opportunities, the Barossa Valley packs as many views as it does award-winning wines. The desert wines are sweet, the Rieslings are crisp, the Shiraz is heavy, and the Cabernets are smooth.
Expect Instagram-worthy vineyards that will make you stop for a photo on the side of the road to take a snap! And in the springtime, it’s even more beautiful!

Springtime produce in the Barossa: A Foodies paradise, only an hour from Adelaide

It’s an easy day trip from Adelaide, and it’s both convenient and accessible. This wine region is a wonderful way to explore the rolling hills of Adelaide.
Not only is it perfect for wine lovers, but the Barossa Valley is a foodies paradise. It’s packed with rich flavours of the Barossa. The Barossa focuses on quality local produce. Think gourmet packaged goods, thoughtfully made cheeses and luxury chocolate!
And what better time to go and explore produce than in the spring? That’s when all the best food is in season, and it’s particularly a good time to sample some South Australian fruits. Strawberries will be at their sweetest and reddest!

Strawberry Picking in the spring
For the best strawberries, check out the German town called Hahndorf. You’ll get to pick your own strawberries, so you can select the reddest and juiciest from the Beerenberg Farm, which is just on the outskirts of Hahndorf.
The strawberries of the Barossa come out between October and May, and the springtime is the perfect time to go and make your selections! Fruit is paid for by the kilo. You go and fill up baskets full of fruit, and then pay for it when you’ve collected all of your fruit.
