Lyndoch is an old country town that makes some of the best wines in the world.

Chateau Yaldara

In the heart of the Barossa Valley is the town of Lyndoch, an hour’s drive from Adelaide City. The town is between two other popular Barossa towns, Gawler, and Tanunda.

We certainly think Lyndoch is worth the visit to enjoy the wineries, amazing food, and scenic views of the rolling vineyards.

Things to do in Lyndoch

Lyndoch has a bit of everything from wineries to a heritage walk and even a lavender farm!

1. Lyndoch Lavender Farm and Cafe

Lyndoch Laver Farm is award-winning and produces all kinds of lavender products from body care to household items, and gourmet foods. At the farm, you can go for a walk, enjoy a bite to eat and a drink, and shop for some lavender products.

2. Chateau Yaldara
Chateau Yaldara is one of the area’s forest boutique winemakers. Come visit the cellar door and pick from a daily tasting, self-guided tour with a tasting or a tour with a fortified tasting.

The winery has it all from chardonnay pinot noir to shiraz, semillon and more.

3. Horizon at 1837
Come enjoy a wine tasting and a tasty meal at Horizon in 1837. You can even have a wine tasting that is paired with the food or enjoy a glass of wine along with your meal.

There’s a range of meals to order from pasta dishes to steaks, and tapas seafood.

4. Kies Family Wines
Kies Family Wines is one of the many wineries in Lyndoch. Once per month on a Saturday, you can join a tour to meet winemakers, learn about the winemaking process, and taste some wine.

You can also do a wine tasting, lunch, or a wine flight with a Barossa produce platter.

5. Lyndoch Heritage Walk
The Lyndoch Heritage Walk includes seeing 30 different places in Lyndoch including the Old Council Office, the Old Mill House, and St John’s Church. The walk can take you around two to three hours to complete with chances to stop at cellar doors and cafes.
