In the heart of the Barossa Valley sits Lyndoch, a town amongst the vineyards.

Lyndoch is a charming town located within the famous Barossa Valley, a wine region renowned for its shiraz. The town is one of the oldest in South Australia and was named after Lord Lyndoch, who served at the Battle of the Barossa in 1811 during the Peninsula War.

How to get to Lyndoch

Lyndoch is situated just over 50 kilometres from Adelaide, about an hour’s drive. The best way to get to and around Lyndoch is by car, as there is no public transport to get there. There are tours available to get around the Barossa Valley for wine tastings, but visiting Lyndoch is not guaranteed.

  • Wine tasting

If you are a wine lover, Lyndoch has great cellar doors close by for wine tastings. There are plenty of wineries to visit that offer tastings and even a tour. When you are ready to hit up a few wineries, make a visit to Chateau Yaldara, Kellermeister, and God’s Hill Wines.

  • Lyndoch Lavender Farm & Cafe

Visit the 2 hectares of the multi-award-winning lavender farm. Known as the biggest lavender farm in South Australia, Lyndoch Lavender Farm & Cafe is a must-visit. The Lavender Farm has a shop filled with lavender fragrance items including body care, home care, oils, and gourmet foods. There is also The Lavender Kitchen where you can taste lavender flavour honey, jams, jelly, and many more gourmet delights.

  • Eateries

Every exceptional wine region is also renowned for having award-winning and excellent eateries to visit. Whether you want a simple cafe meal, or a mouthwatering dinner, Lyndoch and the Barossa have plenty on offer. Recommended places to visit include Horizon at 1837, Lyndoch Hill Restaurant, and The Table Cafe.

Staying in Lyndoch

Lyndoch is one of the best southern gateway towns to the Barossa Valley. The town is close to excellent wineries and has a range of different accommodation options, including The Lyndoch Motel, Barossa Shiraz Estate, and Azalea Cedar Rose Villa.
